We have been thinking a lot about Real Time Data, and know our IoT solution is compelling because they provide real-time data about life safety fire sprinkler systems. Could you imagine making decisions without it? what about if you were a surgeon? journalist? firefighter? chef? yep, seems like #realtime is the best way to go... #propertymanagers #lifesafety #nfpa #boma ...

The Future is (still!) Smart

We posted before about the book, "The Future is Smart" by W. David Stephenson, and here is another idea worth sharing... "Essential Truth #2: Share Data, Don't Hoard It [Those using] data aggregation better and more economically manage their operations and resources and provide more value to constituents are increasingly feasible, effective, and less expensive due to the willingness to share real-time data for the common good." There's a lot to unpack from that thought, and to paraphrase the Buddha, knowledge, like happiness, never decreases by being shared. Many a mickle makes a muckle…

George Washington was fond of the saying, "many a mickle makes a muckle." I personally wouldn't know a mickle from a muckle, but the phrase means that lots of little things add up. So, if you're trying to lower a building's operating costs and improve #PropertyManagement, it's likely that there are many small things you'll need to be doing, as opposed to one large thing. For example, maybe you install a Salamander Reservoir to reduce the amount of service calls and energy costs and install energy-efficient LED lighting for the site lighting. By the end of the year, you'll be rolling in the Benjamins... or Mickles... or Muckles! inspired by: https://www.propmodo.com/incentivize-or-die-leveraging-tax-breaks-gamification-and-design-to-make-buildings-more-sustainable/ ...

$5,000,000,000.00

A few months ago, it was announced that there would be a $5 Billion funding plan to provide electric car charging stations. The thought is to make adoption of energy-efficient vehicles more appealing by reducing fears of running out of charge on a trip (also called 'range anxiety'). This will put a dent in the big picture, but consider Salamander Reservoirs as small, incremental changes that add up to be significant bites over time... unless, of course, you got a cool $5-Billion around... #littlechangesbigresults #propertymanagement #irem #boma ...

New Tech or Not: That is the question…

an interesting take on adoption in commercial real estate technology adoption. While the original article focuses on Commercial Real Estate Brokers, consider it through the Commercial Property Management lens as follows: There are a lot of things that Property Managers know that they need to do ... so they don't have much free time to work on their tech stack. Tech adoption shouldn't be onerous for Property Managers. It shouldn't get in the way of business as usual... Instead, it should be seen as an augment to their output, the kind of thing that amplifies a ... team's reach and/or effectiveness. Only then will we see mass tech adoption in Property Managers. Maybe then we can finally stop hearing about how they need to be better at adapting technology from the people trying to sell them technology solutions.   That's is what the IoT and the Salamander Reservoir is all about: a non-onerous solution to augment output and amplify a team's reach. Isn't it time you do that for your people, your team, your buildings, your occupants and your budget? Original Article Excerpt from #Propmodo "The reason that brokers have not adopted tech isn’t because they are dumb. There are a lot of things that brokers know that they need to do to make money and so they don’t have much free time to work on their tech stack. Tech adoption shouldn’t be onerous for brokers. It shouldn’t get in the way of business as usual, because business as usual has ...
